Main House First Floor - 3 to 5 Years

Within our 3 to 5 Year old unit, as well as throughout the nursery, Freshfields Nursery School embraces the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Located on the first floor of the Manor House, the three to five year old unit operates from two main classrooms, with side rooms, which are part of the six rooms in the unit, in addition to the separate bathroom facilities, and which are for the sole use of the 3-5 year old children. Science and ICT are catered for in a separate room, which is complete with an interactive white board. Our messy room contains a vast range of creative activities such as art easels, sand and water play, and clay modelling. To ensure that our children are given every opportunity to develop, we provide a balance of adult led and child initiated activities in our highly resourced classrooms.

In addition to the classrooms, the children benefit from separate Dining Room located in the rear play ground. It is here that the children enjoy their cooking activities.

We believe that outdoor play is very important in your child's development. When the weather is not so good we have covered areas for the children to enjoy. In our rural location countryside walks are a favourite and the children also benefit from the nursery's mini-farm.

Other favourites are Tots Tune Time and French classes which take place in the dining room. Football is also very popular.

To support the the children's learning, we provide numerous trips and educational visits. Some favourites are Stratford Butterfly Farm, Umberslade Farm Park and the local Library.

We also have our own on-site wooded area that the children delight in visiting and where they are able to undertake activities, such as den building, under the guidance of our trained Forest School Leader. Our fully equipped Mud Kitchen is also very popular with the children and mud pies are always on the menu!

Freshfields believes that communication and inter-action between staff and parents is very important. We are more than happy to discuss your child's progress with you at any time, and you are always welcome into the classrooms.

We hold various parents' evenings throught the year. At the summer parents' evening, staff will discuss your child's progress and development, in readiness for school, and talk through their transfer profile with you. This information is then passed on to their primary school.
